Exciting news for fans of the romantic comedy anime series, "The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten"! The first major event of this beloved TV anime, based on Saekisan's light novel series, revealed that a second season is officially in the works. To pique our anticipation, the novel's original illustrator, Hanekoto, graced us with a stunning teaser visual for the new season.
For those not in the loop, Yen Press has been publishing the light novel series in English. The plot revolves around Amane, a loner living in an apartment, and his interactions with Mahiru, the school's beauty who lives right next door. Their paths seldom crossed until a rainy day when Amane lends Mahiru his umbrella, marking the start of their heartwarming relationship.
The first season introduced us to a stellar cast, including Taito Ban voicing Amane Fujimiya and Manaka Iwami bringing to life Mahiru Shiina. Not to forget, Taku Yashiro as Itsuki Akasawa and Haruka Shiraishi as Chitose Shirakawa.
Behind the scenes, Kenichi Imaizumi spearheaded the first season at Project No.9, while Li Hua Wang took the director's chair. The series scripts were masterfully penned by Keiichirō Ōchi. Additionally, the delightful anime characters, originally designed by Hanekoto, received a vibrant touch for the screen by Takayuki Noguchi. Moe Hyūga's evocative music compositions added soul to the series, with Masayoshi Ōishi delivering the catchy opening theme song "Gift", and Manaka Iwami setting the mood with the ending theme song "Chiisana Koi no Uta".
The anime premiered on Tokyo MX earlier this year and has since enjoyed airtime on BS NTV and AT-X. International fans were also treated with Crunchyroll streaming the series as it aired.
Tracing back the origins, Saekisan began the story's serialization on the "Shōsetsuka ni Narō" platform in December 2018. Soon after, in June 2019, SB Creative's GA Bunko imprint began publishing it in print, adorned with Hanekoto's illustrations. The story also saw a manga adaptation, making its debut on Manga UP! service in January 2022.
